Low Voltage Disconnects (LVDs) from Waytek, Inc.
Low voltage disconnects (LVDs) are solid state electronic
modules designed to protect batteries from excessive draws.
A semiconductor switching circuit measures battery voltage,
and when battery voltage drops too low, predetermined
auxiliary loads are switched off to make sure that the
battery has enough power left for engine starting. These
LVDs automatically reconnect the loads once the batteries
reach 13 volts, or if the starter input or manual override
are active. Low voltage disconnects, made by Sure Power,
offer optional audible or visual alarm outputs to warn the
operator, before disconnecting power. Use LVDs to make sure
that an unnecessary auxiliary load, like a radio or a fan do
not end up draining the vehicle's battery, leaving it
unable to start.
